Blepharoplasty

Upper blepharoplasty involves the excision of excess skin from the upper eyelids, thereby achieving periocular rejuvenation and the feeling of heavy eyes disappearing.

Pre operator

The upper blepharoplasty operation is performed under local anesthesia and is not painful, it takes about 40 minutes, the excess skin that will be excised is drawn with a surgical marker, the sutures are maintained for 7 days. The first 3 days there is edema and ecchymosis or bruising that may extend below the eye but disappear in 7-14 days. Ice is recommended for the first 3 days every 2 hours, sleeping in an elevated position and avoiding exposure to extreme temperatures. A local gel containing antibiotic and anti-inflammatory effect is applied twice a day on the incisions. The periocular rejuvenation effect lasts around 3-7 years depending on the patient, weight and genetic variations.

Post operator

The scar at this level heals very well due to the facial vascularization, and in time it will be almost imperceptible. If the eyes are dry pre-operatively, artificial tears may be needed post-operatively for a short period of time. Patients describe a release or that the feeling of heavy eyes disappears after the operation. It is an easy and quick operation with a minimum of discomfort for the patient. It is difficult to achieve perfect symmetry between the eyes because the excess skin and the position of the natural ridges at the level of the eyelids is also different, as well as the position of the eyebrows, this operation does not lift the eyebrows.
